Shortly after, Dennis was given the opportunity to become an Office Manager for a grain and farm supply cooperative. In a very short time period, he was promoted to Controller and then Vice President of Finance for a $150M and $230M company simultaneously. During this same time period, it was the beginning of Dennis being part of the executive team of 9 successful startups over 15 years.
Dana began his 40-year executive career managing grain and farm supply cooperatives. He has been leading teams in many different successful startups, including the formation of Golden Oval Eggs which grew from a startup to over $200M in sales, 700 shareholders, 600 employees and 7 plants. Golden Oval’s growth led it to become the 3rd largest nationally in egg product further processing and 7th largest egg layer farm in the U.S. Major customers included Costco, Nestles, Marie Calendar, Cheesecake Factory and many other national brands. Dana was also CEO of Central MN Ethanol and President of Green Biologics, Inc. The board of directors of Central MN Ethanol approved Dana’s recommendation to research different alternatives for their ethanol production assets. Through this research process, he was chief negotiator on a multi-million dollar transaction, ultimately selling the company to Green Biologics, Inc. They became the first commercial operation to produce N-butanol and acetone using corn as their feedstock. With all these startups and multiple years of experience, Dana has completed many mergers, acquisitions, and helped engineer several equity and debt financing structures. He developed a keen eye to the critical factor of building a good organizational structure and team to set and execute the strategic goals.
